Clerks 2 and a 401k

Last night, Ian, David, Trevor and I all watched Clerks 2. Mind you, I've seen it before, but re-viewing the donkey scene as well as some intense debates of sexual preferences was something I feel I completely blocked out from the last viewing and now is replaying vividly in my mind. I feel like I'm scarred, yet laughing a lot. Here's a video clip from it, pretty hilarious:

Since I'm leaving the Statesman, I lose my pension. However, I get to keep my 401k. I've earned quite a pretty penny in there, which is exciting. I can't withdraw the money, however, since it'll become taxable and I will lose 10% for taking it out of their service, so I have to either open a new IRA or hope that KXAN has a 401k program that I can roll my money into.

Man, I finished my work an hour ago. I should be going to lunch with Shonda, unless she flakes on me. Though, she owes me quatro margaritas. And what better time to drink than your last week of work. Just kidding. I won't drink, but trust me, I'm tempted.

Interesting fact, Bennigan's is closing their doors. Something else interesting, turns out the company is based out of Plano. I had no clue. Thanks, economy, for knocking us down. And, speaking of the economy, something I discussed with Christine this morning...

We, as a country, now have a $482 billion deficit. Now, this may not sound like much to you, let me assure you, it is. Now, mind you, the US has been in debt since, well, its inception. However, I think this chart at your right will explain most of it. Notice something? Notice the YEARS that are documented in its steady increase? Yeah, no coincidence. Remember when you had Daddy's credit card and you had no concept of money or the repercussions of what spending money was? Well, imagine that we elected a President who had always had Daddy's money and never had to budget in his life. Well, wouldn't you think it would take him a while to figure out how to run a budget effectively? Yeah, shocking isn't it...

Wikipedia has an interesting chart that shows how republicans fuck our economy and democrats have to fix it. Also notice the 2nd chart, where in 2000 the US government actually reduced the debt and had a surplus... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_debt_by_U.S._presidential_terms

That makes me very sad about Bennigan's. I should have gone there while I was in town.

Yeah, I had no clue they were closing and supposedly no one else did either. Like, all the sudden, they declared Chatper 7 at night and the closed the next day. However, not all will be closing, just the franchised ones. So, if you have a local one which is independently owned, you're golden.
