New job update

Well, things are going great at the new job. Granted, I've only been here one day (and half an hour if you're counting) but it's great so far. I've already had meetings with the news director twice as he picks me brain for ideas. Searching for my creativity is not something that the Statesman enjoyed doing.

By the end of the week, I should be fully trained, so that'll be nice. I'll have my own desk (and with two monitors) and my own phone line and everything. It's all very exciting.

I started taking the bus today. Yesterday, I really wanted to make sure I was on time and the bus was running late, so I figured it a good idea to drive. But, the bus was on time today and very convenient. There was a lady on there that kept twirling her dreads. I couldn't stop staring. It was incredible. Other than that, the route is a little messed up due to construction, but that should be back to normal in a couple of months. And in the meantime, it's just two more blocks of walking. I normally wouldn't have minded about it, but it was already 90 degrees outside and I ran this morning. So, my legs weren't happy. But, it was weird walking through West Campus again and not living there. Sometimes I miss it, but I love my apartment so much.

Also, interesting service that a man in Austin has come up with is a text messaging service that helps you ride the buses in Austin. All you have to do is text what intersection you are standing at and what intersection you want to go to and it'll text back what bus you can take, where it picks up and at what time. It's amazing.
