Wishing and hoping and praying...

So, here I am and it's 12:39, technically, Thursday morning and the nightly news JUST came on. You see, on my new job requirements, I'm to post the late news to the web. I normally wouldn't mind, however, with the Olympics on, they keep getting pushed back further and further. It's crazy. The news was supposed to go on 39 minutes ago. Then I guess it comes full circle since KXAN is the only Austin crew that has someone in Beijing. Three people, in fact. So, yay us.

So, today, crazy news came through. The Statesman, obviously my last employer, announced today that they will be sold from Cox Enterprises. Here's the story. Craziness. I mean, what luck. Mind you, I have terrible luck. So it looks like I actually got out at the right time. Not that I needed further confirmation on that one. What selling the paper means is not much for low end employees like I was there. It affects more so the people with pensions and vested interest in the company. It's quite sad. I wish them all the best. :(

Overall, a very interesting occurrence today. I'm hoping the news ends early tonight. Impossible? Yes... Can I hope for it? Sure.
