Dropping like flies

I looked up the origin of "dropping like flies" and I found it really interesting. I mean, how do phrases become so common when no one knows the origin?

Well, we announced restructuring at the station. How yucky. I mean, we aren't doing layoffs per say. Which is good. But, some people are offered severance if they do not want to keep their jobs. Luckily, I'm safe from all this because the new media department is the only department who's budget is doubling (or increasing for that matter) and we're going to hire two more people for the department. So, I'm safe. However, that doesn't help me not worry about the people who are losing their job.

Someone said "Doesn't it suck that this is being done during the holidays?" I said, "This sucks no matter what time of the year it is." I just feel sorry for everyone. :( We aren't reducing jobs though. Like, we're going to hire new people. I think that's the confusing part. We're only eliminating, like, 3 jobs total. But some people, I think are no longer the people corporate wants at our station.

I think what sucks most about it is they keep mentioning the new media department. Like, "well, the new media department's budget is increasing, but is not large enough to keep us afloat." That's usually when everyone's head turns and glares at Jackie and me. How awful.

I can't wait to see my cute nephew this weekend. Hopefully I'll get some pictures with him so we can "oo" and "ahh over them.

Yeah, luckily it was only, like, two people. Still, it sucks.
