The summer of crazy travel begins this weekend. Let's go through a review of this summer's travel plans:
Weekend of May 15 - In Austin for Amanda Garber's bachelorette party
Weekend of May 28 - In Galveston for my own bachelorette party
Weekend of June 26 - In Austin for Brandan's bachelorette party
Weekend of July 17 - In Austin for my bridal portraits
Weekend of July 24 - In Dallas for my twelve trillion bridal showers
Weekend of August 7 - In Dallas for Brandan and Ian's wedding
Weekend of September 4 - In Austin for our wedding
Weekend of September 11 and 18 - In California either departing or arriving to and from our honeymoon cruise
Weekend of September 25 - In Dallas for Amanda's bridal shower
Weekend of October 30 - In Dallas for Amanda and Wes' wedding
I already will be declining attendance to Bryan McKown and to Lisa Su's weddings, not because I don't want to be there for their special day. But, because I simply do not have time. :(
In other words, obviously David and I applied for a Southwest credit card. If we don't reach platinum status by December, God obviously thinks we suck.
I'm really pumped about this weekend however. Amanda's bachelorette party really made me learn something about myself.
I have never considered myself a control freak. I mean, I love order and I love planning, but I can enjoy on-the-fly things also. Her bachelorette party clarified that I like, however, being in charge.
I don't know if it's because I live outside of Austin now and all trips take a great deal of planning, but for Amanda's bachelorette, I was really feeling like the lone wolf. I felt like I was the only one sending emails saying "here are some ideas" and "let me know if you need any help" and such things. Like I was acting like the maid-of-honor. Of course, this wasn't true. It's just that Lauren, the REAL maid-of-honor, was super busy and didn't start planning for it until a week or so beforehand. This made me really nervous. I was worried about it all the time. I had no clue where I was going to stay. How I was going to get to and from the airport. What I should bring to wear. Who all would be there. All in all, I didn't have sufficient details to properly satiate an OCD Blair. Luckily, Lauren did great organizing it and now I have all the details that I need to not have a mild panic attack.
But I learned. I learned that I like planning things. I like to be in charge. And when it comes to traveling somewhere and needing to coordinate with individuals, I cannot take a backseat role. Good to know.

Yes, good to know. I'm the same way about traveling, and it's already driving me crazy that I don't have anything done about your wedding travel plans because everything depends on Brett, and he has no idea yet. Also, you are crazy. I can't believe how much you are able to travel with a new job! Good thing I got married 4 years ago so you don't have to squeeze that in too. ;)
I'm so glad your wedding is in Austin, where I live, and Brandan and Ian's is in Dallas, where my parents live, so I don't have to worry about planes and places to stay. Thanks for that! Haha.
