Runaway pup

OK, may I start off by saying that Milo is asleep right now in my living room.

However, that might have not been the case if a random Good Samaritan had not helped out last night.

Every Wednesday, we have potluck at our place. Brandan, Ian, Christine and Emily all dodge over to our place to have salad, dinner, dessert and some Top Chef (or whatever crappy show we decide on that series). Christine and Emily bring over their dogs and they play with Milo. Christine has a schnauzer/cocker spaniel/poodle mutt while Emily has a purebred black pug. They are quite a team, those three. Playing like crazy in our backyard.

Last night was no different, except Emily could not make it. So, it was just Henry and Milo in the backyard, romping.

All the sudden, in the middle of dinner, our doorbell rings. I instantly think, "Package?!?" because Christmas is close enough that I get excited for the next two months over hopes of a paper box tied up with string.

However, I answer the door and a strange man is there. He looks confused and he says, "Ummm, I think we have your dog?"

***INSERT BLAIR FREAKING OUT***

"MILO!!! MILO!!!!"
I yell, clapping my hands wildly, praying that he's wrong, that my dog is being ridiculous in my backyard still with Henry. But, he wasn't wrong. There, in the midst of his five other friends, they had Milo encircled. He was wagging his tail and looked WAY too happy. I ran over to him and started asking questions.

"Where did you find him?"

"Yeah, we were walking our dogs and he just came running up, no collar and he had a big fluffy black dog with him. We followed that dog back, but were able to catch this one. The fluffy black dog ran right under your fence, so we figured he probably belonged here too."

I was so shocked, I could barely react. David came marching out, concerned of course, and saw Milo. Milo took off and ran right up to David, like nothing had happened.

"Go inside, Milo" David barked at Milo.

Milo, tail tucked between his legs, trotted off in the front door. Yeah, my dog speaks English.

I thanked them profusely. I didn't know how to properly thank them. I hugged two of them and said they made my night.

I walked back inside, there sat both dogs, passed out, most likely from the freedom run they went on that night.

So, Milo and Henry are fine. But no more unsupervised romps in the backyard until we can board up that hole they dug to freedom.

He may be cute, but he's meddling.

So scary! I'm so glad my dog is such a scaredy-pants and ran away from the Dog Saviors. I would have been torn to pieces if Henry had run away. D:

I hate when stuff like that happens! Every once in a while Lucy gets out without me realizing it and it totally freaks me out.

Milo is just researching for our new motion picture "Dog & Davis II: Missing Milo".
