An eventful weekend

Well, David drove off to Dallas on Friday to attend a bachelor get-away up there. So, to distract myself from the inevitable motor-boating of strippers, I decided to pack my weekend full of activities. It was a good choice on my part.

So, Friday night, I went to see Angels & Demons with Natalie. The movie was pretty enjoyable. I always liked that book more than The Da Vinci Code, so it was expected I would like this movie better. But, also I've always been interested in the Catholic church's ability to deny science for so long. I found that message to be poignant. Also, it was one of my favorite religious debates.

I went home early that night because I needed to get a good night's rest for my bike ride the next morning. However, "You've Got Mail" was on. So much for me sleeping. That's a guilty pleasure movie for me.

I just noticed in the movie that the grocery store checkout lady is on Grey's Anatomy now. It was pretty entertaining.

EARLY Saturday morning, I loaded my bike into my car and trudged out to Manor for a 45 mile ride. It went really well. I maintained my speed pretty well. However, about 3.5 hours into the ride, we turned a corner. We all looked to the right and saw the sky was BLACK. A huge storm was blowing in. So, my coach yelled "KICK IT!" And we did. I was FLYING down the road, about 25 mph (which is a lot for a bike). We got back to our cars, loaded them and as I was turning back onto Highway 290, the storm hit. People were going 20 mph on the highway it was so strong. Luckily, I planned on taking a long nap when I got home. Rain always helps me nap.

Then, it was girlie get-together time. I went downtown around 4 p.m. (yeah, that's right, that's how we roll) and started drinking. It was great! We all work together, but we barely talked about work (refreshing). We drank, stuffed our faces, and started a dance floor where there wasn't one. I thoroughly recommend it.

Then, I woke up late on Sunday (needless to say). I did 9, count 'em, NINE loads of laundry and cleaned the entire apartment. Then I went to my end of the year handbell party. It was out in Steiner Ranch (which is like the Willow Bend of Austin- super nice). It was lovely outside, so we dined out there. So awesome. Then, late on Sunday night, David came home, hungover and smelling like a hooker (just kidding).

How was your weekend?
