Top 5 "must visit" list

My friend Erika recently did a blog entry on her top 5 places she wants to visit soon. It was hard for me to choose my "top 5" but here it goes (now, I'm basing this solely on places I want to go. There are many places I want to take David that he has not been yet, but these are not listed here.)

ABROAD OPTIONS:

5. Australia/New Zealand

Yes, I'm one of those people who was completely transfixed by Lord of the Rings enough to make me want to visit New Zealand. Also, I could travel and visit some important sites from LOST in Australia and I would call it my "geek" tour.

4. Russia

A lot of people are shocked by this one. Everyone always says that it's a really depressing country to visit. This is probably accurate, but I don't care. The architectural style of the whole country intrigues me and I want to see it firsthand.

3. South Africa

Mainly I want to go here because they have penguins running around like crazy. Too bad I couldn't get there while the World Cup was going on. That would have rocked.

2. India

I know this is kind of a random choice, but it's one of my lifetime goals to see the Ta Mahal and that alone is enough for me to go there.

1. Bora Bora

I've always wanted to go here. It's so far away from everything that I've never really found a way to do it. I mean, it would take a day-and-a-half to get there from New York, so it's not exactly a trip I can make easily.

Now, I can't just list sites outside of America. There are plenty of places I really want to see in the US too.

IN THE GOOD OL' US OF A:

5. Mount Rushmore

The only reason this is listed so low is because there's nothing else in South Dakota.

4. Seattle

I've technically been to Seattle, but never for more than one day. I would love to take a summer trip there and enjoy the temperate weather. Plus, my iPod could be on constant repeat of either Nirvana or the soundtrack to Grey's Anatomy.

3. Puerto Rico

Yes. I can count Puerto Rico. If they get to cast a vote in the primary election and also get a Miss America contestant, then I can list them. It's always looked so fun and I'd really like to eat some delicious food and dance until I'm numb. Plus, I could sing "America" the whole time. Hmmm, I seem to have a lot of places based on music...

2. Yellowstone National Park

I really really want to see this national park. I've never seen Old Faithful. I've never seen how amazing nature can be. I've never seen bison just hanging out.

1. Niagara Falls

I just think this will really transfix me. I cannot wait to feel the spray of the cold water on my face. :)
