Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks

So, last night I went to my first Albuquerque Isotopes baseball game.

A friend of mine from work has a friend who just moved to town. He just got a job at a competing station. His name was Jason and he’s from Fresno, California.

Jason’s wife and child couldn’t move with him immediately (they won’t be here until December), so he doesn’t know anyone in town. He was mentioning on Saturday night that he wanted to go to a ‘Topes game tomorrow (Sunday) and I said

"Ooo! I’ve wanted to go for a while, but David refuses to go with me. Want to go on a completely platonic date?"

Well, what can I say? I have a way with taken men when I am taken as well. Haha.

I went to the ‘Topes game with him and had a blast. We bought hot dogs. We ate ice cream. We got free baseball hats signed by most-likely crapper minor leagers. We watched our baseball team kick butt against the New Orleans Zephyrs. Wait, Zephyrs?!? What the heck is a Zephyr you ask? Well, Jason and I wondered about that ourselves at the game, so I Googled it. Here are all the definitions I could find with a quick Google search of the word "zephyr."

•A light or west wind
•The Greek god of west wind
•A well-known graffiti artist from NYC
•An instant message protocol
•A stainless steel sculpture by Steve Wooldridge on the IUPUI campus
•An owl warrior in the game Heroes of Newerth

OK, not that I demand an intimidating name for a team, but really? A strong wind?!?! That’s not intimidating at all. Not that atoms of the same element having different numbers of neutrons is intimidating. OK, maybe minor league baseball doesn’t need intimidating mascots after all…

Still, Jason and I had fun and I am hoping that David and him become best buds.
