Lasts

I have found that now that I am moving away from Austin, I am saying the word "last" a whole lot more.

For instance, last weekend was our last weekend in Austin as Austinites. Tuesday was our last trivia night at the Flying Saucer. Wednesday was our last potluck dinner with Christine, Emily, Ian and Brandan. Last night was our last UT basketball game while living in Austin. A few weeks ago, it was our last UT basketball in the drum while living in Austin. Today, is my last day at KXAN. Today, is my last Friday as an Austinite. Tomorrow will be my last Saturday as an Austinite. Sunday will be my last night living in Austin.

I've lived in Austin since 2005. Over five years. I've loved living here. The pathetic attempt at a skyline may make me laugh, but as I'm driving into downtown and I'm surrounded by lush trees, I'm glad that the hippies decided to chain themselves to the trees to make my commute a more beautiful one. The different types of terrain, the GREAT people I've met and, of course, the town that revolves completely around a wonderful university - one that I call my alma mater.

Point being, I love you Austin, but I must move on. But don't worry, I will most likely be back one day.

if today is your last Friday and tomorrow is your last Saturday, then isn't this weekend your last weekend?
