I really love my job. Let it be known that I really love it.
There are times that are absolutely hilarious at work. My favorite was a very elderly lady who called us. We're running an on-air campaign right now for breast cancer awareness. The idea is (since we're channel 9), you should do a self-examination on the 9th of every month. Just a clever way to remind people. Also, we are giving away small calendars that have the 9th of the month highlighted in pink.
Well, this elderly lady wanted a calendar. We're giving them away at Safeway grocery stores but she claimed she didn't have one near her. She asked if I could mail her one. Once I told her that I could, she gave me her address. Then she said, "Do you think I could have 3? One for each room?"
So, turns out, I go around the newsroom, finding three copies of the calendar, finding an envelope, finding address labels and sitting at my desk, addressing the envelope to little old *** (keeping her name a secret).
This is my life. Sending free calendars to an old lady for all three of her rooms in her house. You would think if you were THAT concerned with getting breast cancer, you would remember to check yourself.
